| My friend Jason made some Indian food and I got to eat some. Not too shabby. Well, I got promoted to E-4, not that it matters much, since I am a Ca-dot, after all. But it means more pay.
I've been running over Spring Break. Bleh. 2 miles is still 2 miles. Been going to Six Flags. I haven't had a Season Pass since... 1994 or so; not too shabby at all.
I'm about to have a birthday. That'll be fun... ish. Why don't birthdays have the shiny sparkle that they used to? Perhaps it's because I have to work. Or, it's because I have to do homework and work. Bleh.
Anyway, halfway through Junior year. Almost there...

| I've been pretty fortunate this summer. My friend Clif deployed, pray for him and his daughter please. I got to be a part of a big surprise for her, she got to see her dad just before he left to the sandbox. That was awesome. I've also been given an awsome opportunity doing drafting work at an engineering firm in Arlington, real close to the school. And I'm taking 12 credits over the summer. This way, I don't have to take more than 14 a semester for the next two years. I've found out some pretty interesting news and thought it only right to look back and think about where I've been the last few years. Luckier than some, not as lucky as others, I count my blessings. I'm looking forward to the challenge of the fall semester, as my responsibilities will increase and I will have cadets placed under me. That will be awesomeness. Been playing a lot of Halo3 and GTA4. And Rockband. Karaoke in disguise, the transformer of lounge music, Rockband beats Guitar Hero by a set of drums. But the lousy singing of people is amplified, so maybe it's a draw. Two more years and I'll be done... ish. | | |
| Here I sit, a Junior. I'm beginning classes in a few days for the duration of the summer. Two jobs, a workout regimen (to put myself into the right shape for the fall), a lot of Halo and a bunch of friends to chill with. I could do worse, I guess. I've been going over a lot of stuff. I am curious as to how I should deal with it since, after all, I will and have been dealing with it. I'm preparing myself for the fall semester of ROTC by having an hour of pool excercise daily so that I don't burn myself out with the "usual" excercise regimens. I love swimming, so it's not really excercise if you love it, right? At any rate, all that time in the pool will leave you pruny, so I've been thinking about my future, which is, of course, dependent on my past. Funny how time flies. It was only seven years ago that I was standing at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. I remember that time fondly, with more than a few names standing out. I know that I will invite quite a few people when I graduate and (knock on wood) commission. I'm tired and am going to bed now. I'll start posting more frequently, as my life allows. | | |
| 25 April 08. That's the day I was elected into Sam Houston Rifles. As Young Man Ortiz, I have a few more responsibilities. Well, here we go... :) Give 'em hell! | | |
| So, here I sit. Looking back on the last few months. It's been a bit. I am a few classes away from being a Junior at the University of Texas at Arlington. More importantly, to me at least, I am also a few months away from being responsible for soldiers as an MSIII and for preparing to be assessed for my future Army Officer Carreer. (knock on wood) Wow. 2010 is coming soon and only 2 years later the world ends... according to the Aztec calendar anyway, mine continues forward after that. I've been looking back over the last few months as well. Looking back over my life, my experiences and my companions along the way. It's been quite a trek so far... we'll see where it leads. And now, to finish an assignment... | | |
